CHERRY CREEK, B.C. — Some good news for residents of Cherry Creek, one of the areas hardest hit by flooding over the past month.
Two temporary bridges are being built to give residents better access to their community.
The news comes the bridges on Greenstone Mountain Road and Rodeo Drive were both washed out.
The temporary bridge on Greenstone is now completed and the one on Rodeo Drive is nearing completion.
The Beaton Road Bridge wasn’t as badly hit.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says the bridges are just temporary measures and a long-term solution is being looked at.
“Each of these three locations in Cherry Creek are going to require a durable long term fix and so we’re doing the engineering on that as well,” said Stone. “Our number one priority in the short term was to get these three critical roads open and ensure there was reliable access in and out of Cherry Creek for the residents who live there. Now, we’re turning our attention to what does that long term fix look like.”
