School District 73 Enrollment Down
Sep 29, 2015 | 6:53 PM
Enrollment in the School District is down, but not as much as the district had anticipated. Superintendent Karl DeBruijn says due to some minor issues with new software, the final numbers have yet to be submitted to the provincial government.
As of right now, it looks as though the drop in enrollment will be less than first predicted, which means more money to hire teachers throughout the district.
The Ministry of Education distributes funds on a per student basis, which means School District 73 has already hired ten new teachers to address the extra bodies in classrooms, and could be hiring more once the final numbers are in.
