Dr. Gilles Molgat, a forensic pathologist took the witness stand, telling the 11 person jury that Fowler’s death was caused as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest – which caused asphyxiation.
Those seated in the courtroom who knew Fowler were visibly distraught as Dr. Molgat held up photos of Fowlers injuries. He testified the victims jaw and right side of face were caved in. The doctor said her tongue, which was pushed backwards blocking her airwaves was a major contributing factor to Fowler suffocating. He said she also sustained lacerations and contusions to areas of her face and shoulders and neck also with a skull fracture that caused brain damage.
