Holiday Counterattack roadblocks on now

KAMLOOPS — Drinking and driving is something the RCMP take seriously every day of the year. However, during the holiday season, police find drunk driving more prevalent.

RCMP are preparing to kick off its Counter Attack campaign which targets those who choose to drink and drive.

As of 2010, BC has had the toughest drinking driving laws in Canada. Drivers who fail a roadside test can expect to face an immediate 90 day driving ban, plus possible criminal charges and any legal fees, court-ordered fines or penalties.

Party goers are advised to find alternative rides home, such as calling a cab, using public transit or Operation Red Nose.
