The Oscar-winning Jennifer Lawrence is taking 12 months off of acting to get more “young people engaged politically,” she says.
She is already a member of the board of nonprofit anti-corruption org Represent.Us. alongside director David O. Russell, with whom she frequently collaborates the Red Sparrow star tells Entertainment Tonight.
- “It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics],” Lawrence said of her involvement with the non-profit organization. “It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy.”
- Or is she? A rep for Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly Monday that Lawrence isn’t going anywhere, and while she may dive deeper into politics, she is waiting on the green light on a few upcoming projects and will be highly active in Tinseltown again shortly.
- Lawrence has become more and more involved in politics recently. In January, she participated in the Women’s March, holding a sign that read: “A woman’s place is in the revolution.”
- This also isn’t the first time she’s expressed interest in taking a step back from Hollywood. The 27-year-old told Elle in November that she wanted to buy a farm and milk goats.
