AVID COOK HEADS TO BROADWAY FOR ‘KINKY BOOTS’: American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook is joining award-winning Broadway play Kinky Boots for a limited time from April 3rd to May 5th. Cook will be stepping into the role of Charlie Price, the son of a shoe factory owner who reluctantly takes over his father’s business. Cook will be seen performing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in Manhattan. Kinky Boots, based on the 2005 film of the same name, follows the story of Price who begins a friendship with a drag queen. The production from Harvey Fierstein – who wrote the book for the musical and Cyndi Lauper, who wrote and composed the music – previously won six Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score. Cook released his brand new EP Chromance on February 16th. The release was teased by the first single, “Gimme Heartbreak” available via all digital platforms now.

IMAGINE DRAGONS ASKS CONSERVATIVE GROUP TO STOP USING ‘WHATEVER IT TAKES’: Add Imagine Dragons to the list of bands asking politicians not to use their music. Apparently, the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual event attended by conservative activists and elected officials, had been using the band’s song “Whatever It Takes” on its website. When it was brought to the band’s attention on Twitter, they replied, “Not cool,” adding, “We are reaching out to get it taken down.” The song has since been removed from the site. This isn’t the first time a musician has taken issue with CPAC using their music. After he learned that one of his song’s played at last year’s conference, Andrew McMahon told the group to “take me off your playlist.”

JOSH GROBAN & IDINA MENZEL TO TOUR TOGETHER: Josh Groban and Idina Menzel will be heading out on the road together for a concert tour later this year. “Excited to hit the road again soon, AND honored beyond belief that my dear friend @idinamenzel will be joining us. A dream! Lots of new new new on the way,” Josh tweeted. “Yay!! I’ve been excited to tell everyone! I love you @joshgroban. I’m honored to join you. We’ve done some great things together but this is going to top it all,” Idina added on her account. Idina and Josh previously worked together in a London concert production of the musical Chess. Dates haven’t been announced yet for the tour, but cities will include Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York.
