Kamloops woman killed in crash north of Vernon

VERNON — A Kamloops woman is dead and another suffered critical injuries after a crash north of Vernon yesterday.

RCMP say at about 5:30 yesterday evening, the two were passengers in a Honda SUV driven by an 18 year old woman.

As the SUV turned left onto Highway 97 from Westside Road, it was broadsided by a Chevrolet pickup truck.

While the driver was seriously injured, a 55 year old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, a 54 year old Kamloops woman, was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops in critical condition.
