JOHN BAILEY RE-ELECTED ACADEMY PRESIDENT AFTER HARASSMENT PROBE: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reelected John Bailey as president after being accused of harassing a female colleague while traveling. The Academy cleared him of wrongdoing in March. Bailey has served as cinematographer on In the Line of Fire, The Big Chill, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Under his tenure, the Academy has grappled with the #MeToo movement and the call for greater diversity. The committee also announced that it would shorten the notoriously long Oscarcast, which many have observed are far too lengthy. Some awards, the Academy said, would no longer be handed out live. The next Oscars are set for Sunday, February 24th, 2019. Will you tune in?
