Stolen car suspect sends police on wild chase
KAMLOOPS — A 31 year old man is behind bars after a police chase in Kamloops this morning.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says it all started when a stolen Chev pick-up without a license plate was seen driving erratically on Highway 5 near the Halston Connector.
“At one point, it hit the median and two of its tires were flattened. The driver then pulled over and stopped on the highway near the Tournament Capital Ranch, approximately 15 minutes north of Kamloops,” she says. “A witness saw the driver get out of the vehicle, grab a bicycle from the back of the pickup and ride down a nearby road towards the river.”
Shelkie says the suspect was located and apprehended a short time later near the railroad tracks following a short foot chase.
