KAMLOOPS — Developing World Connections has kicked off its first-ever ‘Making Spirits Bright’ campaign.
Every year Developing World Connections sends over 250 volunteers worldwide to re-build schools and houses for underdeveloped countries overseas, with 20 volunteers coming from Kamloops.
This year staff are reaching out to the public for monetary donations to help more impoverished countries this Christmas.
“Rather than people buying more junk for their kids this year, we thought what if we send the message out there about a school in Nepal that was destroyed two years ago in a massive earthquake that we’ve been working to rebuild.”
Molsberry says a $25.00 donation will buy 25 bricks to help rebuild the school in Nepal.
Meanwhile, a $50.00 donation will go towards feeding a special-needs student in Kenya for four months.
Molsberry says no donation is too small.
“The whole Christmas campaign is to give people the opportunity to give back financially. In the developing world, a small amount can go an incredibly long way.”
