Canada East to face Czech Republic in semis at 2016 world junior A challenge

BONNYVILLE, Alta. — Kristian Reichel scored the only goal of the shootout as the Czech Republic beat Canada West 4-3 on Wednesday in quarter-final action at the 2016 world junior A challenge.

Tomas Havranek, Radovan Pavlik and Daniel Kurovsky also scored for the Czech Republic, which will now face Canada East on Thursday in semifinal play.

Carter Turnbull scored once for Canada West and also assisted on goals from Cale Makar and Jordan Kawaguchi.

Petr Kvaca made 29 saves for the win. Matthew Galajda gave his squad a chance to win, stopping 44-of-47 shots in a losing cause.
