United Way exceeds fundraising target
KAMLOOPS — It was all smiles at Cascades Casino last night (Wednesday) as United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo announced it had far surpassed its three-year fundraising target at its annual campaign celebration event.
The non-profit announced it eclipsed it’s $6.5 million target by raising a total of $7,233,045.
Included in that figure was $91,405 for “Feeding the Future” – an initiative tackling childhood hunger in Kamloops, over $215,000 for wildfire recovery through the United for BC Wildfire Recovery and over $465,500 from the Canadian Red Cross that will be dedicated to the hiring of Community Wellness Managers.
