Kamloops rink leads the house, clinched playoff at B.C. Scotties

KAMLOOPS — The Karla Thompson rink has clinched a playoff at the B.C. Women’s Curling Playdowns.

Thompson and her crew from the Kamloops Curling Centre won two more games on Thursday to stay undefeated.

In the early draw Thompson defeated Kesa Van Osch from Nanaimo 7-4.

The Kamloops ladies then scored one in the extra end for a 7-6 win over Victoria’s Sarah Wark.

At 5-and-0 Thompson leads the house, ahead of 4-and-1 Kelly Scott.

Scott, the six time B.C. champion from Kelowna, lost for the first time in the early draw, giving up steals in the 9th and 10th ends in a 9-7 loss to Amy Gibson.

At 5-and-0 and with two draws left in the round robin the Karla Thompson rink has clinched a spot in the Page Playoffs.

Another Kamloops rink, skipped by Amanda Russett, is 1-and-4 will have to run the table in the last two draws and get help to get in.
