Kamloops Blazers win 5-0 in Vancouver

VANCOUVER — The Blazers had a solid game in Vancouver on Friday night cruising to a 5-0 win over the Vancouver Giants. 

Goaltender Connor Ingram was relied on in the game’s first 10 minutes as the Giants had some pressure to start the game. 

20-year-old defenseman Ryan Rehill was back in the line-up and scored the game’s first goal on the power play. He took a pass from Collin Shirley and blasted a shot past goaltender Ryan Kubic. 

Matt Revel made it 2-0 with 3:55 to play in the period. He took a great pass from Matt Needham and blasted a shot past Kubic on the blocker side. 

The Blazers had a strong second half of the period and outshot the Giants 16-10. They took a 2-0 lead into the second period. 

Gage Quinney gave the Blazers more breathing room midway through the period. He made a great move and roofed a shot over the glove of Kubic for a 3-0 lead. 

The Blazers made it 4-0 with 4:40 to play. Garrett Pilon finished off a rebound on an odd man rush. 

In the third period, Quinn Benjafield scored his sixth goal of the year putting home a rebound off a shot from Collin Shirley for a 5-0 Blazers lead. 

The Blazers cruised to the end of the game with a 34-save performance from goaltenderConnor Ingram in a 5-0 win. 

The Blazers were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Giants finished 0-for-5. 

These two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Kamloops at 7:00pm.
