KAMLOOPS — Garbage and recycling collection you ask? Now there’s an app for that.

The City of Kamloops has launched the app in a bid to help residents remember their collection day.

The Waste Wise app is also designed to help divert materials from city landfills and includes a collection calendar tool where locals can enter their address into the app to find their collection schedule.

Residents can then sign up to receive collection day reminders via email, phone call, or text message. In-app notifications are also availabe in the mobile app.

The app also allows residents to download a PDF of their collection calendar or embed it into Outlook, iCal, or Google Calendars.

Streets and Environment Services Manager Glen Farrow says the most common questions the Public Works and Utilities Department receive are regarding garbage and recycling collection services.

“As our collection days shift after stat holidays, it can be easy to lose track,” he says.

You can download the free app on Apple and Android devices. It can also be accesed by clicking here.
