KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP confirm there was a pedestrian motorvehicle incident in Westsyde on Overlander Drive Friday night around 7pm.

Police could provide no further comment at this time as the file has been taken over by Traffic Services.

Unconfirmed reports suggest two people were struck while walking their dog.

There is no word on the extent of injuries at this time.

Meantime, the President of the Westsyde Community Development Society says the street lighting along Westsyde road is poor.

Steve Delaney says there are many elderly people in the community and says while the city has improved some of the lighting, it isn’t enough.

Delaney says the intersection of Overlander and Westsyde needs a traffic light to help break up the traffic.

“I’ve lived out here a long time. There’s been a lot of people struck out here in Westsyde.”
