KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: The 2018 Farm2Chefs grazing event has been moved due to air quality concerns in the city. According to Adrienne De Candole, the event will take place inside at Heritage House at Riverside Park, instead of at the Sturat Wood schoolyard, as previously planned.

Online ticket sales have been put on hold, but tickets will be available at the Thistle Farms booth at the Kamloops Regional Farmers Market on Saturday, and there could be some limited tickets at the door.

The 2018 Farm2Chefs Grazing event is set for Sunday, August 26 at the Stuart Wood Schoolyard from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, featuring some of the best culinary minds in the city creating tasty vittles from locally grown produce.

The event is also a fundraiser for the annual Farm2Chefs grants which provides money for local organizations who promote education surrounding food security throughout the region. The event pairs local farmers with chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, and winemakers to showcase the best local produce in the region.

“We have about a dozen vendors who are coming,” Farm2Chefs board member Adrienne De Candole explained. “Different restaurants from around town.”

With the smoky weather, organizers are keeping an eye on air quality in the city and will make a decision regarding the viability of the event either Friday evening or early Saturday.

“We’ll be moving forward with it unless it’s really bad,” De Candole said. “[If we cancel we’ll] be offering refunds on all tickets… We’ll let everybody know what happens.”
