Brian Olthuis to be inducted into Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame

KAMLOOPS — High school football coaching legend Brian Olthuis is joing the class of 2016 in the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame.

An educator, administrator, coach and athlete in Kamloops for the last 45 years, Olthuis coached the Kam High Red Devils to three B.C. High School football championships between 1985 and 1990.

Since retiring as a teacher he has remained active as a community volunteer and athlete in senior sports like hockey, slo-pitch and curling.    His passion is football, and Olthuis has served on several steering committes in leadership roles, and works as a volunteer with the Kamloops Broncos and Kamloops Sports Council.

Through Pacific Sport Olthuis conducts NCCP coaching certification programs.

Brian Olthuis will be joining Vic Bifano, Norio Sakaki and Bob Smillie and the Sgt. O’Flaherty’s women’s broomball team in the team category at the Hall of Fame induction and Kamloops Sports Council awards banquet April 9 at the Grand Hall.
