KAMLOOPS— RCMP now say a total of 11 businesses were hit by a pickup truck last night in Kamloops.

In a news release, Corporal Jodi Shelkie says police received a complaint at 8:30 PM that a vehicle had backed into the Bank of Montreal building on Columbia Street.

Shortly after that, Shelkie says several other 9-1-1 calls were reported concerning the same vehicle smashing into a number of other businesses at the Sahali Mall, Aberdeen Village Centre Mall and several downtown banks, including Scotiabank, T-D, CIBC and HSBC.

Police located the vehicle in the Lansdowne Shopping Centre, where the driver hit a police cruiser as he attempted to flee. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The suspect, a 35-year old man, was previously known to police and is recently new to Kamloops.

Corporal Shelkie says no entry was attempted into any of the businesses that were hit, and no one was injured.

The driver is expected to appear in court today.
