KAMLOOPS — The seasonal burning ban for the Kamloops Fire Centre will take effect this Thursday, June 15.

That means all fires larger than a campfire – or a half-metre by a half-metre – will be prohibited.

The prohibition was already in place for a few areas in the Kamloops region, but will now be in place for the entire fire centre.

The ban also prohibits the use of fireworks, burn barrels and binary exploding targets.

Fines for breaking the prohibition start at $1150.
