Milos Raonic advances to semifinals of China Open

BEIJING — Canada’s Milos Raonic has advanced to the semifinals of the China Open.

The hard-serving player from Thornhill, Ont., defeated Pablo Carreno Busta 6-4, 6-4.

His semifinal opponent will be Grigor Dimtrov, who upset second-seeded Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.

Andy Murray also advanced to the semifinals, beating fellow Brit Kyle Edmund 7-6 (9), 6-2.

The top-seeded Murray hit 12 aces and saved three of four break points to set up a semifinal against David Ferrer. The fifth-seeded Spaniard beat Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-7 (4), 6-1, 7-5.
