KAMLOOPS — Fire crews in Kamloops had to respond to an abandoned house for someone attempting to have some sort of a campfire inside.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. David Ferguson says the abandoned building in the 100 block of Yew Street is not unfamiliar to firefighters.

“The building was previously boarded up from another fire in that structure and it is abandoned,” Ferguson says. “Someone had broken back into the building that was boarded up and had another fire burning inside the structure inside of a tire rim.”

Crews responded to the call around 10:00 p.m. last night, but no word at this point if any damage was caused to the structure.
