Voting period extended for proportional representation ballots
VICTORIA — The voting deadline to have your say on electoral reform in B.C. has been extended.
Elections BC says in a news release that voting packages will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 7.
“We have worked closely with Canada Post to understand the full impact of rotating strikes on the referendum process,” said Chief Electoral Officer Anton Boegman in the release. “Rotating strikes have impacted accessibility. As a result we have extended the deadline to ensure that voters are not prevented from participating through no fault of their own.”
Voters are being asked to return their completed voting package as soon as possible to make sure Elections BC receives it before the deadline.
