KAMLOOPS — Kamloops-South Thompson Liberal MLA Todd Stone says his party deserves the credit for the $301 million budget surplus the NDP announced this week.

Let’s be clear, the NDP, through the public accounts process here, have unveiled a set of financial statements that truly reflect the hard work of British Columbians over a decade and a half and the sound economic management of the former BC Liberal government,” he says.

“What we have seen in 13 months of NDP government however is a huge increase in taxes, about four and a half billion dollars-worth over three years. A huge increase in spending, to the tune of just north of $3 billion dollars and we’ve seen 40,000 private sector jobs lost across B.C.”

Stone adds “the proof will really be in the pudding with the next set of financials… which will truly reflect a full term of NDP government and I’m quite worried for British Columbians around the province and for the economy generally.”
