KFR crews extinguish second cigarette-caused fire in a week
KAMLOOPS — Early this morning, Kamloops Fire and Rescue extinguished the second fire this week started by cigarettes.
Platoon Capt. Dave Ferguson says the fire broke out at a townhouse just off Hugh Allan Drive shortly after 1:00 a.m.
“The tenant was up around 1:00 in the morning, and he spotted a fire out on his deck. A small planter pot was on fire,” Ferguson explains. “He put that out and then he realized the fire had gotten in behind the wall.”
Crews arrived and were able to keep the flames within the false chimney, and were able to extinguish it.
