KAMLOOPS — A former Kamloops RCMP officer has been charged with dealing drugs.
40 year old Randi Love, who was the local detachment’s media relations officer in 2009, was charged with drug trafficking on three separate occasions in June of 2015.
According to RCMP E-Division, police became aware of allegations involving Love on July 16 of last year, and launched a comprehensive investigation.
At the time, Love was still a member of the force.
E-Division spokesman Staff Sergeant Rob Vermeulen says as information was corroborated, Love was suspended from duty on August 7.
In October, Love submitted her discharge papers.
Vermeulen says once the investigation was complete, a detailed report was submitted to Crown, resulting in charge approval.
Love’s first appearance before a judge is scheduled for June 16.
Meantime, an unsigned letter written by a Kamloops RCMP member speaks of widespread disgust at Love’s status within the local detachment.
The letter was received by CFJC News in October, alleges that Love was taking advantage of the system.
The Mountie, who claims to speak for the majority of Kamloops members, expresses frustration that Love would receive full pay despite reduced duties.
RCMP E-Division did not entertain questions on the contents of the letter.
