KAMLOOPS — B.C. is sending another 80 firefighters to Alberta.
Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcot says rain across B.C., most notably in the Peace region, has led to less urgency on this side of the border.
“Sufficient personnel and resources do remain in B.C. to respond appropriately to any fire activity and to continue the ongoing fire response efforts in the Peace region,” Turcot said, “and it’s also worth noting that while these crews can be deployed for up to 19 days, they can be recalled at any time should conditions change in British Columbia.”
Turcot says the 80 firefighters deployed this weekend will join 100 firefighters that were previously deployed to Alberta.
