VANCOUVER — A Clearwater man has entered a surprise guilty plea in the 2014 killing of his estranged wife.
Iain Scott pleaded guilty to second degree murder in BC Supreme Court in Vancouver yesterday.
Scott stabbed 33 year old Angila Wilson to death in her Clearwater home on April 20 of 2014.
The discovery of Wilson’s body preceded a lengthy standoff with Scott at a different home in the community.
According to the Vancouver Sun, Scott broke down in tears as he entered the plea yesterday, saying he had no recollection of the killing, but he was confident the evidence put forward at the preliminary hearing was true.
Scott’s next court date is July 13 to fix a date for sentencing.
By pleading guilty to second degree murder, Scott is guaranteed a lifetime prison sentence with parole eligibility ranging from 10 to 25 years from the beginning of his sentence.
