Angelina & Brad Need More Time
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s lengthy divorce battle is dragging on, according to The Blast. The website reports that the pair are attempting to come to a custody agreement with a private judge, and that they have filed court documents requesting a deadline extension. They want their time with him to extend through December of 2019, instead of the previously mandated deadline of June.
Jolie filed a stipulation asking for more time with Judge John Ouderkirk. He’s the same person who officiated at their wedding in 2014.
There’s a lot at stake in their split. In addition to the six children they share (16-year-old Maddox, 14-year-old Pax, 13-year-old Zahara, 12-year-old Shiloh and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne) they have combined assets of roughly $500 million, according to reports.
FAST FACTS:
- The 43-year-old Jolie filed for divorce from the 54-year-old Pitt on September 20th, 2016. They were together for more than a decade, but married for just two.
- Shortly after filing for divorce, reports emerged that Pitt was being investigated for child abuse after an altercation with Maddox on a private flight. The investigation was dismissed.
- She requested physical custody of the children. In November, Pitt responded, asking for joint legal and physical custody.
- In January of 2017, they agreed to keep their ongoing battle private. “The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” the statement from the actors read. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”
- Since then though, they have been exchanging barbs and accusations in the press.
