Goalie Price to sit out second game with flu as Canadens visit Senators

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will sit out at least one more game with a flu.

The team says Price, who missed the Canadiens’ season-opening 4-1 win in Buffalo on Thursday, will not play on Saturday night in Ottawa.

A Tweet from the club said: “Medical update: C. Price: severe case of flu, accompanied by fever, is taking antibiotics, resting at home, evaluated daily by Dr. (David) Mulder.”

Price has not played for Montreal since he injured a knee last Nov. 25, but returned in full health to help Canada win gold at the World Cup of Hockey in September.

Al Montoya, who kicked out 29 of 30 shots in Buffalo, is expected to make a second start in goal, with Charlie Lindgren as backup.

The Canadiens will have defenceman Jeff Petry back from an injury. To make room for him on the roster, the team reportedly placed right winger Sven Andrighetto on waivers in order to assign him to St. John’s of the American Hockey League.

Andrighetto, 23, had seven goals and 10 assists in 44 games for Montreal last season and another 10 goals and 13 assists in 26 games for St. John’s.
