In a news release, RCMP Sergeant Sascha Fesenko says about 9:45 last night, police got a call from Royal Inland about a man who came into the ER with a gunshot wound.

General Duty and Target Enforcement Unit members went to the hospital and found the man had actually been stabbed.

The incident took place in the McGowan Avenue area.

Police quickly identified a suspect and made an arrest.

The victim is a 37 year old male and is still in hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries.

The suspect, a 19-year old man, will be in court later today.

Police are continuing their investigation but so far haven’t been able to speak to the victim.
