Riverside Park pier repairs start Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — Repairs to the Riverside Park pier will start Wednesday.

The City of Kamloops says they’ve hired a contractor to conduct repairs to the footing and rotunda of the pier.

Over time, the city says the foundation of the retaining wall beneath the pier has deteriorated and requires immediate repairs to make it safe for public use.

Crews will install riprap around the rotunda to protect the infrastructure, and helical piles will be cast into the concrete footing.

The city says the work should be complete by the end of this month and will be performed Monday to Friday with the possiblity of some weekend work.

The work is not expected to impact access to the park though users of the park and Rivers Trail are advised to use caution in the area.

The ctiy estimates the repairs will cost around $50,000.
