Habitat for Humanity seeking two families for Homeownership Program

“Where they’re living currently right now is unsafe and we’re looking for families who have children who are living in an unsafe environment, the second one is they have to be willing to volunteer about 500 hours towards the build, or come to the ReStore to volunteer, to be part of that process,” says Celine Calfa, Habitat for Humanity Interim Executive Director.

With the cost of the project at around $400,000 – 100% of the proceeds from Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will go towards the build. And to mark 25 years, Swiffer has also committed to supporting the project, by donating $1 for every ReStore transaction until the end of the month. All to ensure more families have a safe and affordable place to call home.

“We know that there are so many families out there that really do need safe and decent housing, and to be able to be part of that process of having families come and listening to their stories and what they’re up against, and then to actually see after the build for them to be holding onto their house keys for the very first time and going through the front door, there’s nothing like it,” says Calfa.

Family information sessions for the Homeownership Program will be held at the Westsyde Fellowship Church on Saturday, October 22nd at 10am and Monday, November 7th at 7pm.
