15th annual Kiwanis Motorcycle Toy Run goes Sunday

KAMLOOPS — It’s an event that benefits Kamloops kids in need each Christmas. The 15th annual Kiwanis Motorcycle Toy Run goes this Sunday.

Peter Mutrie sits on the organizing committee and says the funs starts with a pancake breakfast in the upper Aberdeen Mall parking lot at 10:00 a.m., which will be followed up with fun activities and the ride itself starting at 1:00 p.m.

“It’s just a major feel good for all around because those of us who can are contributing into a society that looks after us,” he says. “So, what comes around goes around and everybody feels pretty good about what goes on. Plus, there’s some children that actually have a Christmas that they might not otherwise have.”

All toys and the majority of donations will be donated to Christmas Amalgamated. Remaining funds will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Mutrie estimates as many as 2,000 families are impacted at Christmas time.

On average, he says 200 motorcycles participate in the charity run each year.
