Kamloops Film Festival a big hit

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Film Festival which ran last month turned out to be another big success for the City.

The Festival, which ran March 2nd-11th at the Paramount Theatre, attracted more than 4600 patrons, and set records for the number of students in attendance and for the number of films.

KFF spokesman Dusan Magdolen says the Academy-Award winning Moonlight was the winner of the Most Popular Film Award, with over 600 people attending.

Magdolen says it was the only film that needed to use both theatres simultaneously.

However, it was well down the list when it came to the Audience Choice Award.

That award went to the beautiful and moving Canadian film Maudie.

Magdolen added the Independent Short Short Film Festival, held as part of the bigger event, drew over 100 people, with the 1st place prize going to Japneet Singh for the film 1920 Kamloops.

Magdolen says they’re already looking ahead to the 2018 event, which will be the 22nd Annual Festival.
