LIAM PAYNE TO BROADCAST SECRET LONDON SHOW AS A VIRTUAL REALITY LIVE STREAM: If you can’t attend Liam Payne’s secret headlining London show on December 19th, you have another option. Liam is teaming up with MelodyVR to broadcast the show live in virtual reality. “I can’t wait for this show,” Liam says in a statement. “For those who are going to be there on the night, it’s going to be amazing … but the fact there will be people from right across the globe watching the live stream via MelodyVR makes it extra special.” In order to watch the show in VR, you’ll need an Oculus Go or Samsung GearVR headset with the MelodyVR app installed and an internet connection. Log into the app on December 19th at 3 p.m. [ET] and select Liam Payne from the home screen. A select number of tickets to see the show in person will be available for free on the MelodyVR website.
BTS FIRST K-POP ACT TO APPEAR ON BLOOMBERG 50: BTS is the first K-pop group to appear on Bloomberg’s annual list of influential people. The South Korean boy band made the company’s list of the 50 most influential people of 2018, known as the “Bloomberg 50.” Bloomberg noted the success of BTS’ albums Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer, which both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this year. The albums helped BTS expand their fan base worldwide. In addition, Bloomberg said the group’s “willingness to address social issues, mental health and politics” helped contribute to its popularity around the globe. BTS was the only Korean entry to appear on the Bloomberg 50. Taylor Swift was the only other musical act to make the list.
MILEY CYRUS ADMITS HER MOM GOT HER BACK INTO SMOKING WEED: Last year, Miley Cyrus announced that she’d given up smoking marijuana. But now the singer says she’s back to blazing up – and it’s all her mother’s fault. Speaking to the British tabloid The Sun, Miley says, “We toke a little. Every now and then, you know. My mom [Tish] got me back on it.” However, she insists, “When I’m…working I don’t think I function at my highest, most intelligent, most being-able-to-be-as-aware-and-as-present, so I don’t smoke when I work.” Miley’s on the promo trail talking up her new single “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” a collaboration with Mark Ronson.
IMAGINE DRAGONS AUCTIONING VIP TICKETS TO BENEFIT TIME’S UP LEGAL DEFENSE FUND: Imagine Dragons is auctioning off VIP tickets and a meet-and-greet opportunity at the band’s upcoming New Year’s Eve show in Las Vegas. Proceeds will benefit the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which helps connect those who’ve experienced sexual misconduct with legal resources.
