100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Support has been coming in in droves for the 100 Mile House waterpark project competing in the Aviva Community Fund contest.

Organizer Jamie Hughes says the idea for the community began six years ago as a penny collection, but it quickly became clear how expensive a water spray park would be.

“For small communities there really just isn’t a lot of funding for this,” said Hughes, adding “So I started phoning around, talked to Barriere, Clearwater, Willaims Lake, Quesnel. I just started getting information about how they got their funding.”

Hughes says the community has raised about $90,000 already, but has a goal of about $220,000.
