Rural dividend funding to assist Ashcroft Indian Band with wildfire recovery efforts

ASHCROFT — The Ashcroft Indian Band will soon embark on two new projects thanks to $490,000 in funding through the BC Rural Dividend Program.

The Ashcroft Indian Band Business and Community Recovery Centre has been awarded $100,000 to build a community training/healing centre. It will be used for meetings to discuss economic partnerships, training opportunities and community recovery programs as part of wildfire recovery efforts.

The band will receive a further $390,000 to buy an industrial pivot sprinkler system that can be used for both fire suppression and to support the development of a business partnership for growing hay.

The BC Rural Dividend Program commits $25 million annually to rural communities.
