Fans Passing Out for Twenty One Pilots
Twenty One Pilots played their first show in more than a year on Wednesday night (September 12th) at Brixton Academy in London, but the concert was marked by multiple instances of fans passing out and requiring assistance in leaving the crowd. The first time frontman Tyler Joseph calmly said, “Security we have someone in the middle there that needs to come out. If we could try to make a split down the middle for someone back there to get to the front, please.”
Roughly 15 minutes later Joseph interrupted the set to help another fan, saying, “Security, we have another fan that needs to come out right there.” Joseph himself admitted to being a little rusty, telling the audience, “This is our first show in over a year. I gotta get back in show shape! My legs are hurting, but I think I’m good.”
The one-hour special gig, dubbed “A Complete Diversion,” began with the duo of Joseph and drummer Josh Dun coming out in black face masks as a car at the back of the stage began to go up in flames. As the vehicle burned, the pair launched into “Jumpsuit,” the first single from their upcoming new album Trench. The video for the track also features the image of the burning automobile.
Other new songs given their first public performance included “Levitate,” “Nico And The Niners” and “My Blood.” Fan favorites that were aired out for the first time since 2017 included “Heathens,” “Car Radio” and the monster hits “Ride” and “Stressed Out.”
