Adam Driver says he likes the mask Kylo wears: “I mean yeah sometimes it’s challenging, sometimes you can’t see, but it’s really — I think it’s such a beautiful mask — I like it both wearing it and not wearing it — you know, I don’t know what — it’s hard to say — I think the theme of it, of people who are hiding behind masks — I remember for the original one it was part of the Star Wars world that we didn’t want to take for granted that you know people just wear masks for no reason, so we tried to at least — even for myself, we’re trying to figure out why he was hiding or why he needed it.”

Daisy Ridley says Rey and the audience learn together: “Rey has learned nothing that the audience hasn’t seen and I think what’s great is because we’re picking up with her story right where we left off she’s asking all the questions that the audience are asking, so all the emotions she’s having, the audience is having too — she’s asking questions that other people are wondering — and I think it’s great, whatever she’s experience the audience is right with her there.”

Mark Hamill says he felt the pressure filming this movie: “Well the pressure was much stronger because in seven I had sort of a minimalist contribution so I could enjoy all the fun but I didn’t have to do any heavy lifting. This one Luke is more important in the storyline, so you want to do your best, you want to sort of blend in because these are ensemble pictures, movies, stories, you know, Luke’s story is only one of many, many that you’ll see.”
