KAMLOOPS — Winter weather is starting to set in on high mountain highways, and the snow is already falling this morning. Attached images show Drive B.C. webcams as of 7:00 AM October 1 (Monday).

Environment Canada has snowfall warnings out for parts of the Interior this morning. There is no advisory for the Coquihalla, but snowfall warnings are out for the Trans Canada from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, and Highway 97 from Clinton through to Williams Lake. 10-15 centimeters of snow are forecast for the 100 Mile House area today. Through Tuesday, there could be up to 30 centimeters fall on the Rogers Pass.

As well as potential snow, travel advisories have been issued for the Ashcroft-Clinton area.  Heavy rains are expected to fall on Highway 97 from Cache Creek to Clinton, on highwayt 97 C in the Ashcroft area, and on Highway 99 north of Lillooet to Hat Creek. Drive B.C. suggests the heavy rain could leave a debris trail on roadways, and may even cause the roads to be closed if the situation gets bad enough. Travellers should prepare for delays.

There were a couple of accidents on the Coquihalla yesterday, one right at the on ramp from Merritt , and a rollover near the snowshed. No details on either accident, or whether the cause was weather-related.
