VERNON, B.C. — A man who has plead guilty to starting several fires around the Vernon area in 2014, will be sentenced next year.

William Munton plead guilty to seven of the 19 arson charges  he was facing on Oct. 1 in BC Supreme Court, avoiding the need for a scheduled three week jury trial set to start that day.

Today in court, a sentencing hearing was set for January 21, 2019.

Among the fires the 56 year old Munton has admitted to starting was one in July 2014 that destroyed the Kin Race Track grandstand.
