Two arrested after alleged armed robbery of Savona-area convenience store
SAVONA, B.C. — RCMP say a man and a woman are in custody after allegedly robbing a convenience store at gunpoint, and fleeing from police last weekend.
In a news release Friday (October 30), Tk’emlups Rural RCMP say officers received a report of a robbery around 10:45 p.m. last Saturday night (October 24). They were told of two suspects wearing masks, who pointed a gun at a store clerk in the 7000-block of the Trans Canada Highway near Savona. It is alleged the robbers demanded cash and cigarettes before driving away in a white pick-up truck.
“Multiple units attended to support Tk’emlúps RCMP Rural Detachment frontline police, including Police Dog Services (PDS), Kamloops RCMP and police from the Crime Reduction Unit,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier states in the release. “The vehicle was located and one suspect was arrested nearby, however, the other suspect lead PDS on an extensive track and was eventually also taken into custody.”
Officers seized a gun, cash, and property from the store. They say Krystal Long and Sheldon Power have been charged with robbery with a prohibited firearm, disguising face during the commission of an offence, and resisting a police officer. Power was also charged with failing to stop for a peace officer.
