Free on-street weekend parking set to return to Kamloops downtown this holiday season
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops city council is set to discuss the return of its annual free downtown weekend on-street parking program for six weeks over the holiday season.
This year, the program will run from late November and conclude after Christmas Day to give shopper a chance to take advantage of local sales.
“The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, which supports downtown businesses through marketing, events and advocacy, has requested the city offer free downtown weekend on-street parking from November 21 to December 26, 2026, to encourage residents and visitors to shop, dine and access services downtown during the holiday season,” said a staff report to be presented to city council.
“Council has supported similar requests for many years, recognizing the value of reducing barriers to visiting downtown during the holiday season. However, different than previous years, this request encompasses Boxing Day on December 26, 2026, to capture that retail opportunity.”
