DriveBC warns of treacherous Merritt-area road conditions following overnight snowfall

MERRITT, B.C. — Overnight snowfall in the Merritt and Kamloops areas has DriveBC warning of treacherous road conditions along several highways, including the Coquihalla.

Drivers are urged to travel with caution as the road report shows slushy, slippery conditions along Highways 5, 5A, 97C, 97D and Highway 8.

According to reports from drivers, the weather has led to trucks becoming stuck and stalling traffic early Sunday morning (Oct. 25).

Winter tires are mandatory along B.C.’s highways between October 1 and April 30.
