Tablets being sold in Kamloops contain opioid ’50 times stronger’ than fentanyl: Interior Health
KAMLOOPS — For the third time in nearly a month, Interior Health has issued a toxic drug alert for Kamloops.
According to the health authority, a white tablet being sold as dilaudid/hydromorphone contains isotonitazene, an opioid considered up to 50 times stronger than fentanyl. Interior Health says those who consume the drug have a very high risk of overdosing.
“It does not contain hydromorphone,” Interior Health states in a news release. “Using illicit tablets is not recommended due to the heightened risk of overdose. Be aware of risk of fakes, if not purchasing from a pharmacy.”
Those who use drugs are urged to get their substances tested and to never use alone. Anyone who uses drugs is urged to get their substances tested at ASK Wellness or Interior Health.
