Antonio Banderas, Nicolas Cage To Lead ‘True Detective’ Season 5

HBO’s True Detective is adding major star power for its fifth season. Antonio Banderas and Nicolas Cage will headline the upcoming installment, with production set to begin in 2027. The new season is set in Jamaica Bay, New York. Issa López, who directed the acclaimed fourth season “Night Country,” returns as showrunner, writer, and director. Season 4 drew 12.7 million cross-platform viewers, making it the series’ most-watched installment. The Emmy-nominated anthology has earned six wins since its debut. Banderas recently appeared in Babygirl and the Anthony Bourdain biopic Tony, while Cage is known for Pig and Leaving Las Vegas.
