Real estate agent Jurek elected new mayor of 100 Mile House

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A political newcomer has been elected as the mayor of 100 Mile House.

David Jurek, a real estate agent who has lived in 100 Mile House for the past 10 years, received 408 votes. He finished ahead of incumbent mayor Maureen Pinkney, who finished with 228 votes.

Pinkney was acclaimed as mayor of 100 Mile House in 2022. She was previously elected to council in 2018.

While 100 Mile residents elected a new mayor, they also threw their support behind two incumbent councillors. Former Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, who served as mayor of 100 Mile House from 1986 to 1991 and again from 1996 to 2008, will serve a second term as councillor. Dave Mingo, who has served on 100 Mile House council since 2007, was re-elected as well.
