Rathor re-elected as mayor of Williams Lake to conclude trilogy of elections
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The rubber match between Williams Lake Mayor Surinderpal Rathor and former mayor Walt Cobb went to the incumbent.
Rathor won re-election Saturday (Oct. 17) with nearly 67 per cent of the vote. The former longtime city councillor dethroned Cobb for the mayor’s seat in Williams Lake in the 2022 municipal election in a four-way race. Cobb won the first head-to-head meeting during the 2018 municipal election.
Also successful in re-election bids were incumbent councillors Michael Moses and Scott Nelson.
Meantime, two former city councillors will return to Williams Lake City Hall. Paul French served on Williams Lake council from 1993 to 2008 while Jason Ryll was a two-term councillor from 2014 to 2022.
