KAMLOOPS — One person was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and observation after a Friday (Oct. 16) house fire in North Kamloops.

Kamloops Fire Rescue was called to respond to the 700-block of Cumberland Avenue just after 3:00 p.m., and they had the fire under control within the hour.

A cause has not been determined but acting Platoon Chief Will Harlock said there is no indication that the fire was suspicious.

“The bedroom on the second floor, the closest one to us, had heavy damage and there was quite a bit of smoke damage that went through the whole upstairs as it migrated through as soon as the guys opened the door,” Harlock said. “There was some heavy damage in the hallway as well.”
